Stitched to Last: How to Make Fashion That Doesn’t Trash the Planet Speaker: Dr. Katherine Shaw Why do we buy a shirt, wear it twice, and toss it? Dr. Katherine Shaw breaks down where clothes really come from—farms, oil, dye factories, landfills—and shows how choices like recycled fabric, renting, reselling, fixing, or making clothes can cut waste. She’ll share real stories from brands that tried these ideas (some flopped, some worked), call out common greenwashing tricks, and give you simple ways to tell if a “sustainable” label is legit. You’ll leave with an easy checklist to shop smarter and three project ideas you could test at school—like a repair pop-up or a clothing swap.
